Prolapse and hysterectomy surgery planned for fall, but still not sure how Iβm gonna get the time off. (Have they mentioned prolapse and autism link?)
I am sorry to hear that getting time off work for major surgery is adding extra stress you don't need right now! Nobody mentioned an autism-prolapse link, but I just saw a pelvic health physio who assessed me and said it isn't a prolapse. It is mixed incontinence. So that is one less thing to worry about. But I have a lot of homework!
There is a noted correlation or comorbidity between tissue disorders like Ehlers-Danlos and autism. My hysterectomy is actually being driven by prolapse specifically. My sensory issues definitely were challenged on the urinary incontinence meds and am very curious to hear another spectrum sisters experience as you are documenting and sharing! My insurance denied the toe stimulation until I use two different meds, Iβm one down and one to go.
Hi Liz, yes Iβm keen to write about the mixed incontinence now that Iβve been reassured itβs not pelvic organ prolapse. Apparently I just have a natural variation of a normal midlife vagina. Everything is strong, but there are lifestyle factors I need to introduce (foam rolling, shakti mat, conscious breathing etc.) and others I need to eliminate (caffeine, going to the toilet all the time, never push urine out).
Tibial nerve simulation! Iβve had luck in past with acupuncture so am hopeful it will help with the over active nature of apparently even my bladder!
Oh my pelvic health physio said we can do dry needling at my follow up appointment. Iβve also ordered a shakti mat and need to learn foam rolling as part of my homework! I donβt know anything about the tibial nerve. Does that all sound related? π€
Iβve had more specific acupuncture points with dry needling for specific tension spots. I think itβs great your physical therapy includes acupuncture and hope you find relief. Pelvic floor therapy has definitely kept me from surgery for at least ten years!
Thanks so much, Shelby! I am so relieved that the decision was made and all I had to do was explain, not plead or justify my choice. Thanks to my extensive notes I was heard and not scrabbling for words under pressure.
Good news on the prolapse front: today I saw a pelvic health physio and she said I don't have a prolapse. I have mixed incontinence, which I didn't know was even a thing!
I will write an article on it soon. I am sure the homework I have been given to restore my bladder control will be great information for all of us. π₯°
As my grandma liked to say "Onwards and upwards!" That is good news on the no prolapse situation. I haven't written about mixed incontinence either. I mention it in an article very briefly. (I think it's the "Urine Luck" one from months ago, you'd have to dig.) When you think about it it makes sense but no one's talking about it that both can happen at the same time. I'll keep an eye out for any updates from you. And, when your article is ready I'll help promote it. You've got all your lovely subscribers cheering for you.

Whatβs the toe stimulation?

Thatβs fantastic to hear!
I know a lot of energy went in to preparing for this appointment over weeks and it was a huge weight off your shoulders to have your concerns addressed and your wish granted. I hope in these next few days you can take time to do some fun for you things that will help resettle your nervous system, make you feel comforted, and help you process the prolapse news (it's nothing you did wrong. It is what it is as a woman π©·). You just accomplished something huge and now have a plan!

Thanks, Shelby! Your Grandma sounds very wise, as are you. π₯°
