Went down a bit of a rabbit hole after attending a webinar realier this evening(!) and discovered this amazing resource by a neuroscientist that specialises in autism. It has a good (soon to be great?) section on autistic (and includes ADHD) peri-/menopause:
Iβve emailed her before about all of this and sheβs assured me that they are working hard on it. But of course academic research and dissemination of the results is a long, slow, formal process.
Thatβs why I started the Auti Peri Q&A series. I know they work hard on gathering larger data sets and subsequent analysis, but I feel itβs good for us to see exactly what others are going through. More of an anecdotal crowd sourcing passion project!
Was it an Autistica webinar?! Please share the link! π π
Oh, great stuffπ Yeah, research does tend to move at a glacial pace, particularly when you need info asapπ
It was a webinar called 'Menopause and Neurodiversity: what you need to know'. Dr Rachel was one of the experts. Was put on by the team at mymenopause.com. π
Wah, canβt get into it. Hopefully they release a replay! Meanwhile I found this whilst scouring YouTube. Ha ha! Going to listen now while I do the stupid vacuuming. It is 4pm hereβ¦
This is so close to my personal experience. Grateful for the care we do have and exhausted by the gaps. My own mother didnβt make it through this time of life, but Iβve lived this year to the age she passed.
Iβm so sorry about your Mum, Lisa. No doubt she would be thrilled knowing you are outliving her.
Iβm glad you have got some support! Where do you live? Itβs hard to even spot the gaps sometimes when we are so used to pretending everything is fine π«£ xx
Great interviewππ

Sorry, my menopausecentre.com (it's 02:20 here and my brain is arguing with itself about whether it needs sleep or not(!) π) π
Thanks for sharing. I hope you get some decent sleep π€
