I’m stuck in bed with the flu and this newsletter/article soothed my brain.
I love that you’ve shared your wondrous coping tech and I also LOVE Johnny 5 and love that you have 7. I have resisted getting a robo vaccuum for so long (my first mother in law offered us one 20 years ago), but hearing your stories of it may have convinced me. Plus my partner loves to program the strange things in our house. (They have a gentle light that they need to feel good next to their side of the bed because I can’t deal with aggressive overhead lighting at the end of the night).
I could write about every little thing in your article but I shan’t, because I don’t want to take up too much of your time.
But I wanted to say it’s nice to know that you’re out in the world helping folks survive this messed up time in our autistic lives. And because I’m stuck in bed, perhaps I’ll finally answer the wonderful question you sent me.
I appreciate you, 17 hours in the future, and two seasons ahead.
Ah Wake! I’m sorry you’re poorly, feel better soon! Feel free to write more if you’d like to share, I always come back to chat in the comments when I have the capacity. It’s one of my huge pleasures in life!
2. Samsung watch (and HUGE LOL!! I use it multiple times a day to find my phone!). Set timers, put reminders on, check on my steps, play Candyland when I'm unexpectedly without my phone or a notebook to draw in when I'm out.
3. Noise Cancelling headphones (a recent purchase) - the small things fall out of my tiny ear holes so headphones it is. Use them with Spotify when I'm in the supermarket. Use them to reduce stress when people are IN AND OUT OF MY ROOM AND WALKING PAST THE DOOR AND MAKING THE CREAKY FLOORBOARD SING LOUDLY.
4. Samsung phone - I will switch to apple one day probably as my daughter has switched over and I'm liking a few features.
5. Fairy lights from Kmart.
6. Two dogs. But to be fair they often cause more stress ...
7. Seido Karate
8. El Cheapo fan from the Warehouse
9. Ninja XL air fryer for the exact same reasons as you
10. Recent purchase Ninja blender to make protein shakes for myself, Mr 10 and Mr empty-legs body builder 17 who makes his own.
11. Hi-top, long wheel base Toyota van with kitchen, bed, toilet, spare clothes for everyone, pillows, blankets, curtains ... basically a house on wheels.
12. Lots of gorgeous water bottles of different sorts, usually pink.
13. Anything baby pink, and big points if it's pearly metallic pink.
14. Mac Book
15. CBD Oil
16. Specific art equipment
17. Music. Constantly in my head. Otherwise Spotify 1970's - 1990 or thereabouts.
An interesting note (possibly unrelated, but there you are). Whilst researching something for one of my children I came across something that I realised I had. It's called hyperphantasia. And in my case I think it's connected with maladaptive daydreaming and disproportionate nostalgia.
18. Terribly expensive cotton sheets.
19. Having dreadlocks. At least if I'm feeling like a heffalump I know I am a groovy heff.
Hi Debs, this is epic! I have someone in my house who is desperate to visit someone in yours, so I hope I’ll have the capacity sometime soon to come by and see all the pink things, your funky dreads, and meet the doggies! If “all the pink things” sounds creepy, it’s not supposed to 😹
Oh bugger, I forgot to mention chocolate in my last post too! I am NEVER without chocolate and I have a row of whatever I have on hand, every night, in bed. Surprising I am not bigger than I am but I don't really care that much anymore either.
And I can relate to the music. My fave is mid 1970's to probably mid 90's.
Love it! I don't go anywhere without my Airpods - have seriously changed my life- and a battery pack. Now to get spare charging cables to have one in each room, my bag AND the car! I enjoyed learning about time blindness too through your article and will consider the timer app.
Hi Morgana, I take my AirPods everywhere too! Charging cables in every room is a good strategy! I have to charge the power bank with the decent Apple charger that came with the kids’ iPads as it definitely charges faster! 💥
Lots of fabulous suggestions there and I am going to bookmark this article and come back to it tomorrow morning when my energy levels are higher and I can concentrate! I was going to ask you about the Estrogel (if you were on it, as it has been quite the lifesaver for me, once I found a Dr who took my symptoms seriously, that is!).
The water flosser sounds like a plan as I also shred dental floss and I cop enough flack from my dentist about my teeth as it is (not my bloody fault that my teeth aren't blinding white like his!).
I sleep with earplugs in, but I like the idea of the airpods. When I am trying desperately to get something done in my house, I put on Spotify, turn it up on my phone and off I go. Airpods sound like a better option. I NEED music to get boring tasks done!
Time blindness is something I haven't heard of before but it is certainly me, all day, every day. Sigh. I turned up 5 minutes late for my appointment at my local mental health mob the other day (the waitlist to see a psychiatrist is around 6 months at the moment) and the death glare I got from the "mental health clinician" was not good! I had those "I'm disappointed in you" headmistress vibes coming from her. The peer support worker that was there was much easier to talk to. Their names were Meg and Jack. Am I the only person who had a word association thing with Meg Ryan and her son Jack, immediately?? Sigh. My brain is a mysterious thing, lol. I know you can relate :)

I also take CBD oil. Great stuff!
Oh I love this! I’ve just taken sleep meds and will reply properly tomorrow! Thanks for taking the time to share your list 😀
Also loved the pressure adjusted toothbrush tip. I struggle with gum issues too and hadn't realised it could be related to perimenopause.
Yes, the symptoms are so wide ranging we don’t even think they could possibly be related. Nor do a lot of doctors either 😢
My doctor won't even consider I might be peri because I still bleed regularly. The ignorance is astounding.
Urgh. Ridiculous level of ignorance on their part!

“Don’t know why I wanted to tell you that but I guess it’s just part of the authentically honest ND presentation I have…”
Just wanted to add… It’s one of the random things that I enjoy when reading through your writing.
Ah thanks so much! 🥰

Oh let’s chat Estrogel!! 🧴
When you have a chance to come back to it, I’ll be here 😊
Meg and Jack! My mind goes straight to the White Stripes! 😹 🎸 🥁 🤘
I love my Truvega vagus nerve stimulator. Life changing.
That sounds great!
