Like you say, it would have been so much more beneficial to have this knowledge earlier in life. I easily tick every box yet had to deal with an internal hell for a week every month and deal with the consequences of it for the other three weeks. And I think those diabolically heavy perimenopausal periods were their own special hell. One good thing about late-stage perimenopause is no longer being a slave to my menstrual cycle now that it is all but faded out.
Holy shit Sam, Iβve been assuming the two days of freaky depression right before my period was another fun part of being ADHD and 40. How have I not heard of this??
I didnβt know either. Itβs ridiculous isnβt it how we are either left to feel crazy, or taken aside, told we are crazy and get slapped with the wrong diagnosis.
It would be so much easier if we were all told this stuff upon starting puberty and knew what symptoms to look out for π
Thank you for this post! I hate that others suffer from this but am so relieved Iβm not alone in my inability to sleep, stay awake, hold down a job, hang out with friends, eat food, prep food, clean, etc all those life things we need to do. Iβm in the middle of med trials and that is helping but itβs not plain sailing at all. I have been waiting for my period to come for about a month and had my first panic attack. Wondering when my next good week will come is my new normal. Sending all my love out to my fellow auDHDers suffering from periPMDD symptoms. ππ«

Oh thatβs giving the rest of us hope! Canβt wait to share your Q&A this week, Justine!

Well women are so bored, what would we even do without the lifelong healthcare scavenger hunt?
Iβve no idea! I canβt imagine lacking this level of introspection to entertain myself, ha ha!

Itβs a nightmare, isnβt it?! I hope the med trials are a success for you. Itβs all a bit much at the moment π’
